Checking the condition of the CV joint boots of the drive shafts
1. Poorly maintained boots can lead to constant velocity joint (CV) failure, requiring costly repairs or even replacement. It's a good idea to wash the boots with a soapy solution, as rubber degrades when exposed to oils. Being in constant motion, anthers are subject to accelerated wear, so their condition must be checked regularly.
2. Check the condition of the CV joint boots (two on each drive shaft) (see Figure 20.2).

There should be no cracks, punctures, delamination of rubber or loose clamps. If the anthers are damaged, they should be replaced, while checking the condition of the CV joints (see chapter 8).
