Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS)
Removal
1. The vehicle speed sensor is mounted on the top of the gearbox (see figure 13.1, a, b).

The sensor is an electronic device that generates voltage pulses when the sensor shaft rotates. The pulse signals are sent to the ECM, which uses this information to control the fuel and ignition systems, as well as to shift gears in the automatic transmission.
2. Disconnect the wiring connector from the speed sensor.
3. Unscrew the sensor from the gearbox housing. Remove the sealing ring and discard it.
Installation
4. The vehicle speed sensor is installed in the reverse order of its removal; don't forget to install a new sealing ring, however.
