Camshaft position sensor (CMP) (models produced since 1998)
Removal
1. The camshaft position sensor detects the piston position of cylinder No. 1 to synchronize sequential fuel injection signals to each cylinder. This sensor is mounted on the cylinder head near the camshaft sprocket (see figure 10.1, a, b).

2. Make sure the ignition key is in the OFF position.
3. Remove the air filter housing (see chapter 4A).
4. Disconnect the wiring connector, unscrew the mounting screws and remove the camshaft position sensor from the cylinder head (see Figure 10.4).

Installation
5. Installation of the camshaft position sensor is carried out in the reverse order of its removal.
