1. Slowly depress the parking brake pedal all the way down and count the number of clicks. It should take about 5-7 clicks to engage the parking brake. If the brake moves less than five clicks, there is a possibility that the parking brake cannot be released completely. If it moves more than 7 clicks, the parking brake cannot adequately hold the vehicle on the slope, allowing it to roll.

2. Release the pedal.

3. On 2004 and later models, the parking brake adjustment is made at the pedal assembly (Fig. 11.3).

4. On 2003 and earlier models, the parking brake adjustment is performed on the equalizer (Fig. 11.4).

5. In both designs, loosen the lock nut and tighten or loosen the adjusting nut. Tighten the lock nut after the desired travel is achieved.
