The parking brake should hold the vehicle on a slope with 5-8 clicks of travel. Adjustment is necessary if the brake travel is less than 5 clicks (the rear wheels may be difficult to turn) or more than 8 (the car brakes unreliably on slopes).
Lever drive
1. To access the regulator, remove the center trim section.

2. Loosen the lock nut (top nut), holding the adjusting (lower) nut. Tighten the adjusting nut until the desired brake lever travel is obtained. Tighten the lock nut.
3. Check the travel of the parking brake lever and reinstall the removed section.
Pedal drive
Slowly pressing the pedal, determine the number of clicks until complete braking, which should be 3-6. Adjustment is necessary if the brake stroke is less than 3 clicks (the rear wheels may be difficult to turn) or more than 6 (the car brakes unreliably on slopes).
1. To gain access to the regulator, remove the trim (see subsection 11.23.).

2. Loosen the lock nut (top nut), holding the adjusting (lower) nut. Tighten the adjusting nut until the desired brake lever travel is obtained. Tighten the lock nut.
