Note. Recommended interval: every 50,000 km or 24 months.
Check the exhaust gas system a few hours after turning off the engine.
For free access to the exhaust system, raise the car on a lift.
Check the pipes and their connections for exhaust leaks, which indicate serious corrosion or damage.
Check the condition of the brackets and hangers of the exhaust system.
At the same time, inspect the underside of the vehicle for holes, corrosion, open seams, etc. through which exhaust gases can enter the passenger compartment. Seal any openings with silicone sealant.
Check that the elements of the exhaust system are installed freely, without tension, with sufficient clearance relative to the body elements.
Check the condition of the engine by inspecting the inside of the exhaust pipe. If the pipe is black and covered with a layer of soot or white flakes, then the engine needs to be adjusted, including a complete inspection of the fuel system.
