The check is carried out on a cold engine (at least three hours after stopping). Check the condition of all parts of the exhaust system, from the engine to the end section of the muffler. It is best to check from the bottom, on a raised car, when unlimited access to all parts of the system is provided.
1. Check pipes and connections for corrosion, mechanical damage, exhaust gas leaks. Make sure the fastening of the system parts is secure.
2. Check the condition of the exhaust pipe connection (indicated by an arrow).
3. Check the condition of rubber pipe hangers (arrow).
4. At the same time, inspect the condition of the bottom of the car, check for corrosion, through holes, open seams through which exhaust gases can enter the car interior. Seal all through holes in the bottom of the body with silicone putty.
5. Knocking and other noises can often be caused by parts of the exhaust system, especially at their attachment points. Shake pipes, mufflers, catalytic converter. If these parts come into contact with suspension parts, then replace the exhaust system mounting elements.
