Caution! Always lock the passive restraint system when you are going to work in the immediate vicinity of its components in order to prevent the possibility of accidental deployment of the airbags, which could result in serious injury (see chapter 12).

1. Disconnect the ground cable from the negative battery terminal.

2. The fan assembly is located in the passenger compartment above the footwell on the passenger side.

3. On models prior to 2000, remove the glove compartment door (see chapter 11).

4. Disconnect the wiring connector from the fan motor.

5. To remove the motor, unscrew the mounting screws and remove the fan assembly from the housing downwards (see Figure 8.5).

6. If you are going to replace the fan motor, transfer the impeller from the old motor to the new one.

7. Installation of the fan unit is carried out in the reverse order of its removal.
