Caution! The air conditioner refrigerant circuit is under high pressure. If there is a need to open the system (disconnecting any fittings or tubes), contact a specialized workshop or dealership service center: the refrigerant removal from the system must be performed by a specialist. Always wear safety glasses when disconnecting refrigerant pipes.

1. Remove the refrigerant from the system in a specialized workshop.

2. Disconnect the ground wire from the negative battery terminal.

3. On models prior to 2000, disconnect the refrigerant lines (see Figure 12.3) from the receiver/dryer and plug the resulting holes to prevent moisture from entering the system.

Loosen the clamp bolt and remove the receiver/dryer from the bracket.

4. On models produced since 2001, remove the capacitor (see paragraph 14). Using a hex key, unscrew the end cap (see Figure 12.4) and remove the dehydrator from the condenser.

Figure 12.4. On models produced since 2001, the receiver/dryer is located in a tube on the side of the condenser - the arrow points to the end plug.

5. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. On 2001 and later models, be sure to tighten the end plug to the specified torque (see Specifications at the beginning of the chapter).

6. Take the vehicle to the specialized workshop where the air conditioning system was discharged to have it recharged and checked for leaks.
