Starter
Removal
1. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove the air filter housing (see chapter 4A or 4B). On diesel engine models, remove the intercooler duct.
3. If necessary, remove the cruise control servo and set it aside without disconnecting the wires.
4. Remove the coolant expansion tank (see chapter 3).

5. Disconnect the wiring connectors from the starter solenoid/starter motor assembly.
Note: This unit is difficult to access, so the connectors can be disconnected after the starter has been removed.
6. Loosen the starter mounting bolts (see Figure 15.6).

Remove the starter assembly from the engine compartment.
Installation
7. Install the starter in the reverse order of removal.
