Ignition coils for 3.4L V6 engine





1. High voltage wire; 2. Connector; 3. Coil; 4. Power steering air hose; 5. Air duct; 6. Air hose


Ignition coils on a 3.4L V6 engine





The coils are indicated by arrows.

Check and replace



Contactless ignition system



1. Disconnect the battery from ground.



2. Unscrew the screws (indicated by arrows).





3. Remove the coil heat shield.



4. Unscrew the nuts (indicated by arrows) contacts.



5. Check the resistance of the primary coil circuit (between the () and (-) terminals of the coil).



6. Check the resistance of the secondary circuit of the coil (between the () and (-) terminals of the coil).



7. If both resistances differ from the standard, replace the ignition coil.

8. To replace, mark and disconnect the wires.



9. Unscrew the bolts (indicated by arrows).



10. Remove the coil from the distributor housing.

11. Installation is carried out in reverse order.

DIS system



12. Turn the ignition key to the Off position, disconnect the connectors from the coils.



13. Check the resistance of the primary circuit of the coil.





14. Check the resistance of the secondary circuit of the coil.

15. If the resistance differs from the standard, replace the ignition coil.

16. To replace, mark and disconnect all connectors from the coil.

17. Loosen the bolts and remove the coil.

18. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
