Examination
1. Disconnect the battery from the ground.
2. Remove the plastic spool cap (if provided).
3. Remove the two coil connector screws and connect the ohmmeter leads.
4. Measure the resistance between the positive and negative terminals of the coil. Compare the result with the standard value.
5. Measure the resistance of the secondary winding, i.e. between the positive terminal of the coil and the high voltage terminal. Compare the result with the standard value.
6. If the resistance is out of specification, replace the ignition coil.
Replacement
1. Disconnect the battery from the ground.
2. Remove the heat shield from the coil.
3. Label and disconnect the wires from the coil.
4. Loosen the fixing screws (shown by arrows) and remove the coil.
5. The coil is installed in reverse order.
