Examination



1. Disconnect the battery from ground.

2. Remove the plastic cap from the coil (if provided).

3. Unscrew the two coil connector mounting bolts and connect the ohmmeter probes.



4. Measure the resistance between the positive and negative terminals of the coil. Compare the result with the standard value.



5. Measure the resistance of the secondary winding, i.e. between the positive terminal of the coil and the high-voltage terminal. Compare the result with the standard value.

6. If the resistance differs from the standard, replace the ignition coil.

Replacement



1. Disconnect the battery from ground.

2. Remove the heat shield from the coil.



3. Mark and disconnect the wires from the coil.



4. Loosen the mounting screws (shown by arrows) and remove the coil.

5. The coil is installed in the reverse order.
