Checking the oil level in the gearbox

A. Inspection/filling hole in the gearbox housing.
B. Drain hole in the gearbox housing.

1. Place the vehicle on an inspection pit, overpass, or on stands, making sure that the vehicle is horizontal.

2. Unscrew the inspection hole plug in the gearbox housing. On vehicles with a limited-slip differential, a plate indicating lubricants and lubrication periods is attached near the plug.

3. Insert your finger into the hole and feel to make sure that the oil level is near the bottom edge of the hole.

4. If the oil level is insufficient, add oil of the required grade through the inspection hole.

5. Tighten the plug.
