Battery terminal corrosion
Removing the pole piece
First, the mass wire is removed.
1. Battery care is limited to checking the condition of the poles and terminals, the presence of electrolyte leakage and corrosion on adjacent metal parts, periodic voltage checks and charging.
2. The places affected by corrosion should be washed with a solution of soda and painted with zinc primer. Terminals and poles should be cleaned to a shine, while not deforming the conical part of the terminals. When cleaning, corrosion must be completely removed.
3. Charge the battery (except unattended) recommended current 2 A for 12-16 hours. To check the capacity of the battery, it is recommended to charge the battery with a current of 1/10 of the capacity expressed in ampere-hours.
4. Check electrolyte density. Some of the batteries have built-in hydrometers of the chromatic type. The density of the electrolyte in such a battery is determined by the color chart supplied by the manufacturer (a dark color of the indicator usually indicates that the battery is completely discharged).
