Caution: Batteries contain sulfuric acid, a poisonous and flammable substance. Wear safety goggles when working with the battery and avoid getting the electrolyte on your skin, clothing or vehicle. If this happens, immediately remove acid-soaked clothing and pour water on the affected parts of the body for at least 15 minutes. Seek immediate medical attention. If possible, keep moistening the skin with water using a sponge or cloth on the way to the doctor.
The gas released from the battery is explosive. Do not smoke or use naked flames when you are attempting to start your vehicle using a foreign battery.
The booster battery must be 12 volt. Make sure it is before connecting it to your vehicle.
1. If the auxiliary battery is in another vehicle, make sure that the vehicles do not come into contact with each other. Disconnect all unnecessary current consumers in both vehicles.
2. Unscrew all screw plugs of both batteries. Place rags over remaining open holes (thereby reducing the risk of battery explosion).
3. If the second car's engine is off, start it and leave it on for a couple of minutes. The engine should be running at about 2000 rpm during the start attempt.
4. Connect the connecting cables in the correct sequence, as shown in fig. 30030-01: positive to positive (+), and negative - to the engine or «mass». When doing this, please note that you must first connect the cable to the positive pole of the discharged battery, then the other end of this cable to the auxiliary battery. After that, with a second cable, connect the negative pole of the auxiliary battery and the fixed metal part (e.g. engine mount hook) your car that is removed from the battery. At the same time, there should be no parts near the cable that move when the engine is running. If your vehicle has two batteries, connect the positive cable to the dead battery first. Then follow the normal sequence described below. When connecting cables, make sure that the connecting cable and terminals do not come into contact with anything other than the corresponding poles or earth. When connecting cables, do not lean on the battery.
5. Start your car engine in the normal way. After starting, leave it to work for a couple of minutes in high idle mode (2000 rpm).
6. Carefully disconnect the connecting cables in exactly the reverse order: first negative, then positive.
7. Be careful when removing rags that have been placed on batteries - under certain circumstances they may contain sulfuric acid.
8. Screw all end caps securely (screw plugs) batteries.
If the cause of your battery drain is not obvious (e.g. unlit lighting), you need to install and fix it.
