Removing corrosion from terminals and poles
Klemmu (photo on the left) and battery pole (photo on the right) should be thoroughly cleaned to a shine.
Battery care is reduced to the following operations:
- periodic check and restoration of the electrolyte level;
- checking the condition of the battery case by inspection;
- battery cleaning, corrosion removal (white deposits) on battery mounting parts and terminals (see fig. Removing corrosion from terminals and poles) an aqueous solution of soda ash;
- checking the reliability of fastening the terminals on the poles;
- checking the battery charge with a voltmeter or using a hydrometer.
A fully charged battery should read 12.6 volts. Maintenance-free batteries have a built-in color indicator. A blue dot in the indicator window indicates that the battery is fully charged, when the indicator turns off, the battery should be charged.
It is recommended to charge the battery with a current of 2A for 12-16 hours.
