The torque from the gearbox to the drive wheels is transmitted using the drive shafts, and on all-wheel drive vehicles also through the cardan shaft.
Each drive shaft consists of three parts: internal and external constant velocity joints (SHRUS) and the shaft itself.
The splined part of the outer hinge is inserted into the wheel hub and fixed with a nut. CV joints are lubricated with grease, which is replaced only when the joint is disassembled.
Covers should be checked periodically for damage and grease leakage.
Lubrication from the hinge follows when the protective cover is torn or the clamps of its fastening are loosened.
Replace torn protective covers of CV joints immediately, otherwise damage to the hinges is possible. Replacing the boot involves removing the drive shaft.
Vibration and increased noise when starting off, engine braking and sharp turns occur when the constant velocity joints, shaft splines are worn out and when the wheel bolts are loosened.
