Intake air temperature sensor

1. The intake air temperature sensor is located in the intake manifold inlet pipe on the left side. This sensor is a thermistor resistor whose resistance changes according to temperature changes). The change in resistance directly affects the output signal voltage sent from the sensor to the ECM. As the sensor temperature decreases, the value of its resistance increases. At increase temperature sensor resistance value decreases.

Examination

2. Check the condition of the sensor connector and wiring and repair any damage.

3. Turn the ignition key to the OFF position and disconnect the wiring connector from the intake air temperature sensor. Measure the resistance between the sensor terminals with an ohmmeter. With the engine cold (20°C), the resistance value should be 2.0-3.0 kOhm. Connect the wiring connector to the sensor, start the engine, and warm it up to operating temperature. Disconnect the sensor and measure the resistance again. At 60°C, the resistance value should be 400-700 ohms. If the test results reveal a discrepancy between the sensor resistance values and the above, the sensor must be replaced.

Removal

4. Disconnect the wiring connector from the sensor and unscrew the sensor from the intake manifold pipe using a 22 mm socket head.

Installation

5. The sensor is installed in the reverse order of its removal. Tighten the sensor to the specified torque.
