Car pressure regulator
1. Bracket
2. Regulator
The pressure regulator is designed to change the pressure in the brake circuit of the front and rear wheels depending on the load on the front and rear axles. The load on the front axle of an unladen truck exceeds the load on the rear axle, so when braking, the pressure in the front brake circuit must be higher than the rear circuit. If the vehicle is loaded, the load on the rear axle may exceed the load on the front axle. Therefore, the pressure regulator of the cars in question ensures the redistribution of pressure in the brake circuits depending on the load.
The sensitive element of the pressure regulator is a spring that expands depending on the weight of the load. The initial spring tension is adjustable. The regulator includes dosing and bypass valves.
Repair adjustment of the regulator is carried out only in a car service, you can independently perform work on removal and installation (replacement). If the adjuster rod is disconnected when the rear axle is dismantled, the unit does not need to be adjusted.
Attention! After replacing the regulator, it should be checked at a special stand in a car service.
Removal and installation
1. Raise the vehicle.
2. Turn away nuts of unions of a regulator, disconnect and muffle tubes.
3. Loosen the locknut and turn out the adjusting bolt on the rear arm.
4. Turn away bolts and remove a regulator with an arm.
5. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Adjust distance A by turning the bolt. Remove air and hydraulic drive.
