Throttle Cable — Removal and Installation [Toyota 4Runner N120]

Removal



1. Disconnect the battery from ground.



2. Loosen the locknuts of the cable end on the valve body.



3. Turn the throttle lever and remove the cable by threading it through the slot in the lever.



4. Disconnect the cable from the pedal (indicated by arrows). Remove the two bolts securing the cable sheath bracket to the engine compartment bulkhead.



5. Working from inside the passenger compartment, feed the cable through the engine compartment bulkhead.

Installation



1. Installation is carried out in reverse order.

2. Check that the rubber seals are installed correctly in the engine compartment wall.

Adjustment



1. To adjust the cable, press the pedal all the way down while the throttle valve is fully open. If the valve is not fully open, loosen the locknuts, press the pedal all the way down, and tighten the locknuts until the valve is fully open.

2. Check the adjustment. When you release the pedal, the valve should close completely.
