Replacing the fuel filter [Toyota Corona T190]

1. Remove the fuel filter assembly with the fuel filter support.

2. Loosen the drain plug and drain the fuel from the fuel filter.

3. Using pliers, unscrew the water presence sensor and remove the O-ring.

Note: Do not damage the sensor when removing.




4. Using a special tool, remove the fuel filter and gasket.



8. Install the fuel filter.
  • a) Check and clean the fuel filter mating surface.
  • b) Lubricate the filter gasket with fuel.
  • c) Screw the fuel filter until it touches the bracket and tighten it by hand by three quarters of a turn.

9. Install a water presence sensor
  • a) Install a new fuel filter water sensor O-ring.
  • b) Apply a layer of fuel to the O-ring.
  • c) Screw the water presence sensor into the fuel filter by hand.

10. Install the fuel filter assembly with support on the vehicle.



12 Connect the fuel filter water presence sensor connector.

13. Fill the filter with fuel using a fuel pump.



14. Start the engine and check for fuel leaks.
