2. Check the condition of the journals, presence of cracks, dents, burrs. Check the roughness of the journals by rubbing a copper coin against them. If traces remain, the journals should be re-ground. It is recommended to perform internal flaw detection of the crankshaft.

3. Measure the journal diameter in several places and determine the taper and ovality. Check the crankshaft runout by installing it in prisms.
4. If there is noticeable damage, the crankshaft should be reground and the bearings should be replaced with repair ones.
5. If a deep groove from the working edge of the seal has formed on the journals under the seals, or there are scratches or other damage, then it is recommended to replace the crankshaft or consult a car service.
