1. Remove the gearbox in the block with the drive axle (see chapter 7).
2. Remove the faceplate (see paragraph 15).
3. Remove the seal from the rear of the engine using an appropriate puller or screwdriver. Be careful not to damage the crankshaft or oil seal bore. Thoroughly wipe the hole under the cuff in the cylinder block with a napkin. Remove all traces of oil and dirt.
4. Grease a cuff on external diameter and put it on the end of a cranked shaft. Make sure that the sealing lip faces the engine. It is preferable to use a cuff installation tool to press a new cuff into place (sold at most auto parts stores). If a proper tool is not available, use a large socket and carefully, without tilting, insert a new seal into the mounting hole, positioning it flush with the edge of the cylinder block.
5. Install the faceplate (see paragraph 15).
6. Install the gearbox in the block with the drive axle (see chapter 7).
