1. Remove the gearbox in the block with the drive axle (see chapter 7).

2. Remove the faceplate (see paragraph 15).

3. Remove the oil seal from the rear of the engine using a suitable puller or screwdriver. Be careful not to damage the crankshaft or the oil seal bore. Wipe the oil seal bore in the cylinder block thoroughly with a napkin. Remove all traces of oil and dirt.

4. Lubricate the outer diameter of the seal and push it onto the end of the crankshaft. Make sure that the sealing edge faces the engine. It is preferable to use a seal installation tool to press the new seal into place (sold in most auto parts stores). If the proper tool is not available, use a large socket and carefully, without tilting, insert the new seal into the mounting hole, positioning it flush with the edge of the cylinder block.

5. Install the faceplate (see paragraph 15).

6. Install the gearbox in the block with the drive axle (see chapter 7).
