28. Check the belt tensioner for visible oil leakage. If there is only a slight trace of oil on the pusher side, the tensioner seal is in good condition.
29. Take the tensioner with both hands and force the tensioner against a stationary object (pic. 7.29). If the plunger moves, replace the tensioner.

30. On cars 1999-2003. measure the protrusion of the plunger from the body (fig 7.30) Compare the measurement result with the value given in Specifications at the beginning of this chapter. If protrusion is not correct, replace tensioner.

31. Check up smoothness of rotation of intermediate pulleys.
