  • apply 1.2 to the bolts (figure 3.77) and the springs that secure the exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold, a means of facilitating their removal. After impregnating the bolts, unscrew them and separate the exhaust manifold from the intake pipe, being careful not to damage the oxygen sensors 3;
  • unscrew the bolts securing the lower brackets of the exhaust manifold;
  • disconnect the electrical connectors from the oxygen sensors;
  • remove the upper exhaust manifold heat shield from the engine compartment. There is also a lower heat shield that is attached to the bottom of the exhaust manifold and does not need to be removed;

  • unscrew the nuts (figure 3.78) and bolts and, pulling from the cylinder head, remove the exhaust manifold with the gasket.

Installation

Perform installation in the following order:
  • use a scraper to remove any remaining old gasket and soot deposits from the mating surfaces of the exhaust manifold and cylinder head;
  • if a new exhaust manifold is to be installed, the lower heat shield must be moved from the old manifold to the new one;
  • install a new exhaust manifold gasket onto the cylinder head in accordance with the markings and symbols on it;
  • install the exhaust manifold and secure it with nuts. Tighten the nuts in several passes, starting from the center and working your way out in a spiral.

Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
