1. Drain the oil from the differential housing.

2. Disconnect the propeller shaft from the differential.

Note: Secure the drive shaft.

3. Remove the connecting flange
  • a) Using a chisel and hammer, loosen the nut.
  • b) Holding the flange, unscrew the nut.

  • c) Using a special tool, remove the connecting flange.

4. Remove the front oil seal and oil deflector.

  • a) Using a special tool, remove the oil seal.
  • b) Remove the oil deflector.

5. Remove the front bearing and spacer sleeve
  • a) Using the special tool, remove the front bearing.

  • b) Remove the spacer sleeve.

6. Install the new spacer sleeve and front bearing.
  • a) Install a new spacer sleeve onto the shaft.
  • b) Install the front bearing onto the shaft.

7. Install the oil deflector and new seal.
  • a) Install the oil deflector.
  • b) Using a special tool, install a new oil seal. Installation depth is 2.0 mm.

  • c) Apply grease to the seal lip.

8. Install the connecting flange,

  • a) Using the special tool, install the connecting flange onto the shaft.
  • b) Apply grease to the threads of the new nut.
  • c) Hold the flange and tighten the nut. Tightening torque 108 Nm.
  • d) Adjust the drive pinion bearing preload. Using a torque wrench, measure the main transmission drive pinion bearing preload. Bearing preload:
    • New: 1.0-1.6 Nm.
    • Used: 0.5-0.8 Nm

If the preload is greater than the maximum allowable, replace the spacer sleeve.

If the preload is less than the maximum allowable, tighten the nut by small angles (increasing the tightening torque by 13 Nm) until the preload matches the specified value. If the preload exceeds the maximum allowable value when tightening the nut, replace the spacer sleeve and repeat the adjustment procedure. Do not adjust the preload by loosening the nut.

9. Lock the nut.

10. Connect the propeller shaft.

11. Fill the differential with transmission oil.
  • Oil quality according to API: GL-5
  • Recommended oil viscosity according to SAE: SAE 80W-90
  • Filling capacity: 0.9 l
  • Tightening torque of plugs: 49 Nm
