Throttle body/module
Examination
1. The throttle body is located on the air intake manifold on the left side of the intake manifold. The resistance of the internal windings can be checked without removing the unit from the engine. First, disconnect the wiring connector.
2. Use an ohmmeter to measure the resistance between terminals 1 or 3 and 2 and between terminals 4 or 6 and 5 and compare the measurement results with the data Specifications. If the resistance does not match, replace the throttle body.
Removal
3. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the air intake hose from the throttle body.
The original can be found on this resource (TOYOTAMAN)
4. Disconnect the wiring connector and vacuum hose (see Figure 12.4).
Figure 12.4. Disconnecting the wiring connector.
5. Loosen the mounting bolts and remove the throttle body together with the air intake manifold assembly from the intake manifold. Remove the gasket (see figure 12.5, a, b).
Figure 12.5,a. Loosen the mounting bolts and separate the throttle body together with the air intake pipe from the intake manifold...
Figure 12.5, b....then remove the gasket.
6. Loosen the mounting nuts and separate the throttle body from the air intake manifold. Remove the old gasket.
Installation
7. The throttle body is installed in the reverse order of its removal. Don't forget to put in new gaskets; tighten the mounting nuts to the specified torque.
