Removal and installation the throttle body [Toyota Carina T190]

Series A

1. Disconnect the (-) cable from the negative battery terminal.

2. Drain the coolant from the engine.

3. Disconnect the accelerator cable.

4. (Models with automatic transmission) Disconnect the throttle valve control cable.

Note: Mark the position of the adjusting nuts, otherwise if they are not positioned correctly, the automatic transmission will shift gears at different speeds.

5. Disconnect the intake air temperature sensor from the air cleaner cover.

6. Remove the air filter cover and air duct.

7. Remove the throttle body by disconnecting it from the intake manifold.

a) Disconnect the throttle position sensor connector.

b) Disconnect the idle speed control valve connector.

c) Disconnect the air hoses from the throttle body.

Note: Hoses can be easily confused when connected, so mark them before removing.

d) Loosen the bolts and nuts securing the throttle body.

• Tightening torque - 22 Nm

d) Disconnect the throttle body from the intake manifold and remove the gasket.



e) Disconnect the coolant and air bypass hoses from the throttle body.

Note: The throttle body is installed in the reverse order of removal.

3S-FE, 4S-FE

1. Disconnect the (-) cable from the negative battery terminal.

2. Drain the coolant from the engine.

3. Disconnect the accelerator cable.

4. (Models with automatic transmission) Disconnect the throttle valve control cable.

Note: Mark the position of the adjusting nuts, otherwise if they are not positioned correctly, the automatic transmission will shift gears at different speeds.

5. Disconnect the intake air temperature sensor from the air cleaner cover.

6. Remove the air filter cover and air duct.

7. Remove the throttle body by disconnecting it from the intake manifold.

a) Disconnect the throttle position sensor connector.

b) Disconnect the idle speed control valve connector.

c) Disconnect the air hoses from the throttle body.

Note: Hoses can be easily confused when connected, so mark them before removing.

d) Loosen the bolts and nuts securing the throttle body.

• Tightening torque - 20 Nm

d) Disconnect the throttle body from the intake manifold and remove the gasket.



e) Disconnect the coolant and air bypass hoses from the throttle body.

Note: The throttle body is installed in the reverse order of removal.
