Examination
1. Disconnect the battery from the ground.
2. Disable airbag (see subsection 11.44).
3. Remove the steering wheel.
4. Remove the steering column cover.
5. Pry up and remove the ignition lock cover.
6. Disconnect the connectors from the lock.
7. Check for continuity between the lock pins.
8. In the LOCK position, there should be no circuit between the terminals.
9. In the ACC lock position, the circuit must be between terminals 2 and 3.
10. In the ON position, the circuit must be between pins 2, 3 and 4 and pins 6 and 7.
11. In the lock position START, the circuit must be between pins 1, 2 and 4 and pins 6, 7 and 8.
12. Check the continuity of the alarm switch contacts of the key left in the lock. To do this, move the switch to the Off position and remove the key.
13. Insert the key and turn the switch to the On position, there should be a circuit between pins 1 and 2.
14. If results of check negative replace the switch.
Replacement
1. Follow steps 1-6.
2. Insert the key into the lock and turn to the ACC position.
3. By inserting a thin screwdriver into the lower hole of the cast lock body, wring out the latch while simultaneously pushing the lock towards you.
4. Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
