Examination
1. Disconnect the battery from ground.
2. Disable the airbag (see subsection 11.44).
3. Remove the steering wheel.
4. Remove the steering column cover.
5. Pry up and remove the ignition switch cover.
6. Disconnect the connectors from the lock.
7. Check for continuity between the lock terminals.

8. In the LOCK position, there should be no circuit between the terminals.
9. In the ACC lock position, the circuit should be between terminals 2 and 3.
10. In the ON position of the switch, the circuit should be between terminals 2, 3 and 4 and terminals 6 and 7.
11. In the START position of the lock, the circuit should be between terminals 1, 2 and 4 and terminals 6, 7 and 8.
12. Check for short circuits in the alarm switch contacts when the key is left in the lock. To do this, move the switch to the Off position and remove the key.
13. Insert the key and turn the switch to the On position, there should be a circuit between contacts 1 and 2.
14. If the test results are negative, replace the switch.
Replacement
1. Complete steps 1–6.
2. Insert the key into the lock and turn it to the ACC position.
3. Insert a thin screwdriver into the lower hole of the lock casting and press the latch while simultaneously pushing the lock towards you.
4. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
