Examination
1. Disconnect the ignition lock connector by finding it along the wires.
2. Using an ohmmeter or a test lamp, check the presence of a circuit between the indicated terminals, in different key positions. Replace the lock if at least one of the tests is negative.
Replacement
1. Disconnect the battery from the ground.
2. Turn the key to the ACC position.
3. Remove the steering wheel.
4. Remove the steering column cover.
5. Remove the switch combination from the steering shaft.
Replacing the ignition switch
6. Disconnect wire connectors.
7. Loosen the fixing screws and remove the lock.
8. Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
Switch replacement (drum) castle
9. On some cars, remove the lock illumination ring.
10. Press the pin, remove the lock by pushing it up.
11. When installing the lock, press down on the pin and insert the lock into the hole until the pin locks into place.
12. Further assembly is carried out in the reverse order.
