Examination
1. Disconnect the ignition lock connector by finding it along the wires from the lock. 2. Using an ohmmeter or a test lamp, check the presence of a circuit between the indicated terminals, in different key positions. Replace the lock if at least one of the tests is negative.
Replacement
1. Disconnect the battery from the ground.
2. Turn the key to the ACC position.
3. Remove the steering wheel.
4. Remove both steering column covers.
5. Remove the switch combination from the steering shaft.
Replacing the ignition switch
1. Disconnect the wires from the ignition switch.
2. Loosen the fixing screws (indicated by arrows) and remove the lock.
3. Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
Switch replacement (drum) castle
1. Press the spring-loaded pin with a thin screwdriver.
2. Turn the key to the ACC position, press the pin and remove the lock switch.
3. When installing the lock, press the pin and insert the switch into the socket on the steering column until it locks with the pin, which should go into the hole on the steering column.
4. Further assembly is carried out in the reverse order.
