Rear Axle — Removal and Installation [Toyota 4Runner N120]

1. Raise the rear of the vehicle and place jack stands under the body. Remove the rear wheels.

2. Support the rear axle under the gearbox housing with a trolley and jack.

3. Disconnect the cardan shaft from the gearbox. 4. Disconnect the metering bypass valve spring from the bridge (see subsection 8.10)



5. Disconnect and plug the brake hoses and pipes.

6. Remove the rear brake drums.

7. Disconnect the handbrake cable.

8. Disconnect the breather hose.

9. Disconnect and compress the shock absorbers.

10. Disconnect the stabilizer cross member, transverse and longitudinal rods from the body.

11. Carefully lower the rear axle.

12. The installation of the bridge is carried out in reverse order.

13. Bleed the brakes (see subsection 8.14).
