All-wheel drive vehicles "Toyota 4 Runner/ Hilux/ Surf" equipped with an electromagnetic drive of the front drive axle (ADD system).
When the front axle is engaged, the drive locks the left axle shaft, through which torque from the engine is transmitted.
Using a locking axle shaft eliminates the need for locking hubs, but increases the load on the CV joints, covers and differential parts that rotate even when the front axle is disengaged, and their wear increases.
On vehicles with such a system, the axle shafts and covers require particularly careful inspection.
If the front axle does not engage or disengage normally, the following checks should be performed.
If the measures taken do not produce results, the car should be taken to a car service center.
