Checking the power steering pump drive belt [Toyota Corona T190]

Press the belt with a force of 98 N, and measure the belt deflection. Drive belt deflection:

A series engines:

• new: 5-6 mm
• used: 6-8 mm

S series engines:

• new: 8-10 mm
• used: 10-13 mm

C series engines:

• new: 11-16 mm
• used: 15-18 mm

Note:

• a "new belt" is a belt that has been running on the engine for less than 5 minutes.
• a "used belt" is a belt that has been in engine operation for 5 minutes or more.
• After installing the belt, check that it is seated correctly on the pulleys.
