Attention! Vehicles are equipped with safety systems (SRS), including airbags and seat belt tensioners. Before working near the impact sensors, instrument panel, and steering column, disconnect the negative and then positive terminals from the battery and wait 2 minutes. This will prevent unauthorized deployment of the airbags and seat belt pretensioners, which could cause injury.
The direction indicator and hazard warning light relays are designed as a single combined unit.
When the relay is operating, clicks should be heard inside the car. If, when turning on the turn signals on one side or the other of the car, the relay operates at an increased frequency, this means that one of the turn signal bulbs has burned out, and the working bulb is flashing at double the frequency.
If the turn signals on both sides of the vehicle do not flash, a fuse may be blown, the turn signal switch or relay may be faulty, or there may be a fault in the electrical circuit. If a fuse has blown, check the electrical circuit before installing a new fuse.
Replace the turn signal and hazard warning light relay as follows:
Disconnect the relay electrical connector.

Remove the relay from the bracket located under the instrument panel, to the right of the steering column (figure 15.14, 15.15).
Install the relay in the reverse order of removal.
