Removal
1. Disconnect the battery from ground.
2. Remove the equalizing chamber (see subsection 5.11.5). This procedure is quite complicated, so carefully read the instructions in this manual, label all hoses and wires.
3. Remove the wires from the spark plugs.
4. Mark and disconnect all hoses and wires from the cover and set aside.

5. Remove the cylinder head cover bolts. The left picture shows 11 cylinder head cover bolts for the 3.0L engine, the right picture shows the cylinder head cover bolts for the 3.4L engine.
6. Remove the caps. If the cap does not give in, then move it with hammer blows through a soft spacer, or carefully open the seal with a spatula.
Installation
1. Thoroughly clean the sealing surfaces of the cover and cylinder head, remove traces of oil.

2. Apply sealant to the half-round plugs and install them on the cylinder head, apply sealant to the flat areas of the plugs. The places for applying sealant on 3.0L engines are marked (1).

3. Apply sealant to the semi-circular plugs and install them on the cylinder head, apply sealant to the flat areas of the plugs. The places where the sealant should be applied on the 3.4L engine are indicated by hatching.
4. Place a new gasket on the cover, install the cover, sealing washers and tighten the nuts. On the 3.4L engine, replace the spark plug housing seals.
5. Tighten the cover bolts evenly to the specified torque in 3-4 stages.
6. Install the remaining parts, start the engine and check for leaks.
