Rear Wheel Speed Sensor: 1 - rear wheel speed sensor, 2 - caliper assembly, 3 - brake disc, 4 - rear axle hub, 5 - sensor rotor

1. Check the rear wheel speed sensor,
  • a) Remove the seat cushion and back.
  • b) Disconnect the speed sensor connector.

  • c) Measure the resistance between the terminals. Resistance 1.05-1.45 kOhm. If the resistance value does not match the specified value, replace the sensor.
  • d) Check for continuity between each terminal and the sensor body. If there is continuity, replace the sensor
  • d) Connect the sensor connector.
  • e) Install the seat back and cushion.

2. Check that the sensor is installed correctly and that the tightening torque of the sensor mounting bolt corresponds to the permissible value. Tightening torque is 8 Nm.

3. Visually inspect the teeth of the speed sensor rotor.
  • a) Remove the hub assembly.
  • b) Check the sensor rotor teeth for scratches, cracks, deformations or missing teeth.
  • c) Install the hub assembly.

Checking the rear wheel speed sensor

1. Connect the oscilloscope to the speed sensor connector.

2. While driving at a speed of 20 km/h, check the oscillogram.

3. Check that "C" = 0.8V or more. If not, replace the sensor.

4. Check that "B" is 40% or more of "A". If not, replace the rear axle hub.

Removal the rear wheel speed sensor

1. Disconnect the speed sensor connector.
  • a) Remove the seat cushion and backrest.
  • b) Disconnect the speed sensor connector and remove the sensor wiring harness together with the seal.
  • c) Remove the two bolts securing the wiring harness brackets.

2. Remove the speed sensor.

Installing the rear wheel speed sensor

1. Install the speed sensor. Tightening torque 8.0 Nm.

2. Connect the speed sensor connector.
  • a) Pass the sensor wire harness through the body panel hole and connect the connector.
  • b) Install the seal securely.

  • c) Install the wiring harness brackets and tighten the bolts. Tightening torque 5.5 Nm.
  • d) Install the seat back and cushion.
