Rear wheel speed sensor: 1 - rear wheel speed sensor, 2 - caliper assembly, 3 - brake disc, 4 - rear axle hub, 5 - sensor rotor
1. Check the rear wheel speed sensor,
- A) Remove the seat cushion and backrest.
- b) Disconnect the speed sensor connector.
- V) Measure the resistance between the leads. Resistance 1.05-1.45 kOhm. If the resistance value is not as specified, replace the sensor.
- G) Check for continuity between each of the terminals and the sensor body. If there is continuity, replace the sensor
- d) Connect the sensor connector.
- e) Install the backrest and seat cushion.
2. Check that the sensor is installed correctly and that the tightening torque of the sensor mounting bolt is within the acceptable range. Tightening torque 8 Nm.
3. Visually inspect the speed sensor rotor teeth.
- A) Remove the hub assembly.
- b) Check the sensor rotor teeth for scratches, cracks, distortion, or missing teeth.
- V) Install hub assembly.
Checking the rear wheel speed sensor
1. Connect the oscilloscope to the speed sensor connector.
2. While driving at 20 km/h, check the waveform.
3. Check that "WITH" = 0.8 V or more. If not, replace the sensor.
4. Check that "IN" is 40% or more of "A". If not, replace the rear axle hub.
Removing the rear wheel speed sensor
1. Disconnect the speed sensor connector.
- A) Remove the seat cushion and backrest.
- b) Disconnect the speed sensor connector and remove the sensor harness with seal.
- V) Remove the two bolts securing the wire harness brackets.
2. Remove the speed sensor.
Installing the rear wheel speed sensor
1. Install the speed sensor. Tightening torque 8.0 Nm.
2. Connect the speed sensor connector.
- A) Feed the sensor harness through the hole in the body panel and connect the connector.
- b) Install the seal securely.
- V) Install the wire harness brackets and tighten the bolts. Tightening torque 5.5 Nm.
- G) Install the backrest and seat cushion.
