Removal and installation
1. Raise the car and remove the rear wheels.
2. Remove the half shaft.
3. Loosen the set screws.
4. Loosen the locknut.
5. Remove the snap ring.
6. Displace the hub by pushing it towards you, then push in and remove the outer bearing.
7. Remove the hub and lay it on a clean surface with the inner bearing facing up.
8. Remove the seal from the hub.
9. Remove the inner bearing.
10. Rinse and dry the bearings, hub and axle housing.
11. Check the condition of the bearings for cracks, damage and signs of wear.
12. Check the condition of the studs, axle flanges and hub splines.
13. Check for nicks and wear on the bearing races and rollers.
14. Replace worn parts.
15. Knock out the bearing races with a brass mandrel and press in new ones.
16. Lubricate the bearings and contact surfaces of the axle housing.
17. Grease must enter the cavity between the rollers and the bearing cage.
18. Install the inner bearing and seal.
19. The lips of the stuffing box must face the inside of the hub.
20. Press the oil seal in so that it is flush with the hub.
21. Lubricate the oil seal with gear oil or grease.
22. Install the hub, install the outer bearing into the hub.
23. Install the ring and tighten the locknut.
24. Adjust the bearing.
Adjustment
1. Install the brake drum and secure with two wheel nuts.
2. Tighten the locknut to 52 Nm while rotating the hub.
3. Loosen the locknut so that it can be rotated by hand.
4. Using a dynamometer, check the moment of resistance to turning the hub.
5. Gradually tighten the locknut until the moment of resistance to turning (preload in bearings) corresponded to the subsection 7.4.
6. Tighten the locking screws diametrically opposite.
7. Check the freedom of rotation and play of the hub.
8. If the backlash has not disappeared, then repeat steps. 1-5, get the backlash to disappear.
9. Install the axle shaft, wheel and lower the car.
