Installation diagram of the rotation speed sensor
Front Wheel Speed Sensor: 1 - sensor rotor, 2 - front wheel speed sensor (for all engines except 3S-GE), 3 - front wheel speed sensor (for 3S-GE engine)
1. Checking the front wheel speed sensor.
- a) Remove the fender liner and wing molding.
- b) Disconnect the speed sensor connector.

- c) Measure the resistance between the terminals. Resistance:
- Models before 96: 0.92-1.22 kOhm
- Models from 96: 1.40-1.80 kOhm
If the resistance value is out of specification, replace the sensor.
- d) Check for continuity between each of the terminals and the sensor body. If there is continuity, replace the sensor.
- d) Connect the speed sensor connector.
- f) Install the fender liner.
2. Check that the wheel speed sensor is installed correctly and that the tightening torque of the sensor mounting bolt corresponds to the permissible value. Tightening torque is 8 Nm.

3. Visual inspection of the teeth of the wheel speed sensor rotor.
- a) Remove the drive shaft.
- b) Check the sensor rotor teeth for scratches, cracks, deformations or missing teeth.
- c) Install the drive shaft. Caution: To prevent damage to the sensor rotor teeth, do not strike the drive shaft.
Checking the front wheel speed sensor
1. Connect the oscilloscope to the speed sensor connector.

2. While driving at a speed of 20 km/h, check the oscillogram.
3. Check that "C" = 0.5V or more. If not, replace the sensor.
4. Check that "B" is 30% or more of "A". If not, replace the drive shaft.
Removal the front wheel speed sensor
1. Disconnect the speed sensor connector
- a) Remove the fender liner.
- b) Disconnect the speed sensor connector.
2. Remove the speed sensor.
- a) Remove the bolts securing the sensor wiring harness brackets.
- b) Remove the speed sensor from the steering knuckle.
Installing the front wheel speed sensor
1. Install the speed sensor on the steering knuckle. Tightening torque 8.0 Nm.
2. Connect the speed sensor connector.
- a) Install the sensor harness with brackets and tighten the bolts. Tightening torque 5.5 Nm.
- b) Connect the sensor connector.
- c) Install the mudguard.
