Attention! Dust generated during the normal operation of the brake system is harmful to your health. Never blow it out with compressed air or inhale it. Always use a certified filter mask when working on brakes. Under no circumstances should you use petroleum-based solvents to clean the brake system. Use only brake cleaner!
Attention! If the vehicle is equipped with electronically controlled air suspension, turn off the suspension height control switch before raising the vehicle.
Removing
1. Loosen the wheel nuts. On all-wheel drive models, also loosen the axle shaft nut (see chapter 8). Raise the vehicle and place secure supports under it. Install wheel chocks under the front wheels and remove the rear wheel.
2. Remove the brake disc (see chapter 9).
3. Remove the rear hub assembly with bearing (see paragraph 13). Non-4WD models unscrew the axle shaft nut to remove the axle shaft from the rear hub (see chapter 8).
4. Disconnect the brake shield assembly with the parking brake from the hub support. Using a piece of wire, hang the brake shield assembly with the brake on the spring.
Note. It is not necessary to remove the parking brake pads or disconnect the parking brake cable from the brake shield.
5. Remove the wheel speed sensor or sensor harness from the hub support (see chapter 9).
6. Let go (but do not unscrew completely) suspension strut-to-hub mounting bolts (pic. 10.3)
7. Disconnect the longitudinal and transverse arms from the hub support (see paragraphs 11 and 12).
8. Remove the bolts securing the suspension strut to the hub support while supporting the hub support so that it does not fall, and then disconnect the hub support from the suspension strut bracket.
Installation
9. Inspect the hub support bushing for cracks, deformation, and signs of wear. If it is worn, take the hub support to the dealer's service department or another service station to press out the old bushing and press in the new one.
10. Install the hub support on the suspension strut bracket, aligning the two bolt holes. Remove the two bolts securing the strut to the hub support and tighten them to the prescribed torque given in the Specifications at the beginning of this chapter. On 4WD models, before installing the hub support into the strut bracket, insert the axle shaft into the hub, and then loosely tighten the axle shaft nut.
11. Connect the transverse arms to the hub support, but do not tighten the nut yet (And).
12. Connect the trailing arm to the hub support, but do not tighten the nut yet.
13. Place a jack under the hub support and raise it to simulate normal ground clearance.
14. Tighten the bolt (s) /nut (And) mountings of the transverse arms and the bolt/nut of the trailing arm with the prescribed torque specified in Specifications at the beginning of this chapter.
15. Connect the wheel speed sensor or sensor harness to the hub support.
16. Connect the brake shield to the hub support, install the hub and tighten the four bolts to the prescribed torque specified in Specifications at the beginning of this chapter.
17. Install the brake disc and caliper and then connect the wheel speed sensor or sensor harness (see chapter 9).
18. Establish a wheel and screw nuts of its fastening.
19. Lower the vehicle and tighten the wheel nuts to the prescribed torque specified in Specifications at the beginning of this chapter. On all wheel drive models, tighten the axle shaft nut to the specified torque specified in Specifications at the beginning of this chapter.
