Note. This procedure only applies to 1999-2003 models. Models 2004 and later do not use an accelerator cable.
1. Remove the engine cover (see paragraph «Intake manifold - removal and installation» in chapter 2).
2. Loosen the throttle cable jam nut and unscrew the cable adjustment nut (pic. 10.2), and then release the cable from the appropriate bracket.
Pic. 10.2. Loosen locknut (A) and adjusting nut (IN), then slide the cable out of the bracket
3. Detach the accelerator cable from the throttle cams: align the cable with the groove on the side of the cam, and then slide the end of the cable out of the cam (pic. 10.3).
Pic. 10.3. Align the cable with the groove on the side of the cam, then slide the cable tip out of the cam (V6 model shown, similar for four-cylinder engines)
4. Trace the accelerator cable back to the bulkhead, note the cable routing pattern, and disconnect any clips or cable guides.
5. Move the cable away from the accelerator pedal (in the cabin) (pic. 10.5).
Pic. 10.5. To disconnect the cable from the accelerator pedal, pull the end of the cable (A) out of the pedal, and then slide the cable out of the groove on the left side (IN)
6. Turn out bolts and disconnect a cable from a partition (pic. 10.6).
Pic. 10.6. To disconnect the accelerator cable from the bulkhead, align two bolts
7. Pull the cable through the partition on the side of the engine compartment.
8. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
