Warning! Gasoline is highly flammable. Therefore, extra precautions should be taken when working on any part of the fuel system. See warning in paragraph 2.


1. Relieve the fuel pressure (see paragraph 2).

2. Disconnect the ground wire from the battery (see paragraph 1 of chapter 5).

3. Remove the engine cover (see "Intake manifold - removal and installation" in Chapter 2A or 2B).

Models with four-cylinder engine



4. Disconnect the fuel supply line from the fuel pressure pulsation damper (see paragraph 4).

5. Unscrew the two bolts securing the pulsation damper (Fig. 14.5) and remove the damper from the fuel rail.

6. Remove the old pulsation damper sealing ring.

7. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Use a new sealing ring and tighten the pulsation damper mounting bolts to the specified torque specified in Specifications at the beginning of this chapter.

Models with V6 engine



8. On V6 models, the pulsation damper (Fig. 14.8) is screwed into the fuel rail for the rear bank of cylinders. Simply unscrew the pulsation damper from the fuel rail.





Ryas. 14.8. To remove the pulsation damper (1) from the rear fuel rail on V6 models, simply unscrew it with a wrench. Remove the sealing washers (2) between the pulsation damper and the pipe (3) and between the pipe and the fuel rail and discard them


9. Remove the old sealing washers and discard them.

10. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Install new sealing washers and tighten the pulsation damper to the prescribed torque specified in Specifications at the beginning of this chapter.
