Check the throttle assembly as follows:

Check that the throttle valve rotates smoothly and evenly.

Remove the air intake pipe from the throttle body and inspect the inside of the throttle body for soot deposits and other contaminants, especially around the throttle plate. If there is dirt, remove it with an aerosol carburetor cleaner and a toothbrush. Make sure beforehand that the aerosol cleaner will not damage the oxygen sensor and catalytic converter.

Caution: Do not clean the throttle position sensor (TPS) or the idle air control (IAC) valve

Remove the throttle assembly on a cold engine as follows:

Turn off the ignition and disconnect the ground wire from the battery.

Loosen the clamps and remove the air intake pipe.

Disconnect the accelerator cable from the throttle lever.

On pre-2001 models with an automatic transmission, disconnect the control cable from the throttle lever.

Remove the throttle body mounting bolts (figure 5.25, 5.26).

Remove the throttle body and gasket from the intake manifold.

The engine is installed in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:
