All models are lit by rack and pinion steering. The steering gear is bolted to the subframe and actuates the steering knuckles through the tie rods. The inner ends of the steering rods are protected by rubber boots, which should be periodically inspected for secure fastening, breaks and leakage of lubricant.
The power steering system consists of a belt driven pump and associated piping and hoses. The fluid level in the booster reservoir should be checked periodically (see chapter 1).
The steering wheel drives the steering shaft, which in turn drives the steering gear. The steering shaft consists of several sections connected by cardan joints. Play on the steering wheel can be caused by wear of the universal joints of the steering shaft, steering gear, tie rod ends and loosening of the bolts.
