Attention! The air conditioning system is constantly under high pressure. Never disconnect the refrigerant lines or remove system components without first unloading the refrigerant from the system. The unloading of refrigerant from the air conditioning system must be performed by the dealer's service department or an automotive air conditioner specialist using an appropriate service station designed for unloading/recycling the refrigerant and complying with the requirements of environmental protection legislation. Always wear protective goggles when disconnecting the refrigerant lines!
1. Unload the refrigerant by contacting an automotive air conditioner specialist.
2. Disconnect the ground wire from the battery (see paragraph 1 chapter 5).
3. Using an internal hex wrench, remove the plug (pic. 13.3) and use long-bladed pliers to remove the drier from the condenser.
Pic. 13.3. After the refrigerant has been discharged from the system, remove the Allen key plug and pull the dryer out of the pipe on the condenser
Note. If this plug is not accessible with the A/C condenser installed, the condenser may need to be removed.
4. When installing a new dryer, use new o-rings and tighten the plug to the prescribed torque specified in Specifications at the beginning of this chapter. Lubricate the O-rings with compressor oil compatible with R-134b refrigerant.
5. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
6. Evacuate the system, charge it with refrigerant and check for leaks. To do this, contact a specialist in automotive air conditioning.
