Attention! Wait until the power steering fluid has cooled completely before starting this procedure.
1. Disconnect the ground wire from the battery (see paragraph 1 of chapter 5).
2. Raise the front of the car and place secure supports under it.
Models with a four-cylinder engine
Application. The PSP sensor is located in the power steering pump. It is turned directly into the pump housing.
3. Locate the PSP sensor on the power steering pump, and then disconnect the sensor electrical connector.
4. Place a drain pan under the pump, then screw the sensor out of the pump. Be prepared for some fluid to come out.
5. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. At the end of work, check the power steering fluid level (see chapter 1) and add fluid if necessary.
Models with V6 engine
Note. The PSP sensor is located in the power steering pump. It is turned out from above into a bolt (hollow) type connection leg fitting «banjo», with which the pressure hose is connected to the power steering pump.
6. Disconnect the sensor electrical connector (pic. 10.6).
Pic. 10.6. On V6 models, power steering pressure sensor (PSP) screwed into the spigot type «banjo», with which the discharge pipe is connected to the power steering pump. To remove the PSP sensor, disconnect the electrical connector (1), and then unscrew the sensor from the union bolt (2)
7. Place a drain pan under the power steering pump, then remove the sensor from the hollow bolt. Be prepared for some fluid to come out.
8. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. At the end of work, check the power steering fluid level (see chapter 1) and add fluid if necessary.
