The sensor is designed to maintain the idle speed of the engine during a parking maneuver.
The sensor is faulty if the engine stalls during a parking maneuver or continues to run at high idle.
Examination
1. Disconnect the connector and check the short circuit of the sensor contacts with the engine running. The sensor contacts must be open, and in the extreme position of the wheels when turning, they must be closed. Replace defective sensor.
Replacement
1. Raise the vehicle.
2. Disconnect the battery from the ground.
3. Disconnect the connector and remove the sensor. After installing the new sensor, bleed the air from the hydraulic booster (see subsection 9.2.7.).
