Note. On 1999-2003 models, the TP sensor is located on the throttle body (On 2004 and later models, this sensor is an integral part of the electronic throttle body and cannot be removed.)
1. Disconnect the mass wire from the battery (see paragraph 1 of chapter 5).
2. If necessary, remove the engine cover (see paragraph «Intake manifold - removal and installation» in chapter 2).
3. Disconnect the TP sensor electrical connector (pic. 11.3, a, b).
Pic. 11.3, a. To disconnect the TP sensor electrical connector on models with a four-cylinder engine, press the locking tab (1) and disconnect the connector. Then unscrew the two screws securing the sensor (2) and remove the sensor from the throttle body
Pic. 11.3, b. To disconnect the TP sensor electrical connector on V6 models, press the locking tab (1) and disconnect the electrical connector, and then unscrew the two screws securing the sensor (2) and remove the sensor from the throttle body.
4. Turn out screws of fastening of the gauge and remove the gauge from the throttle body.
Note. On V6 models there is not much space between the TP sensor and the baffle. Therefore, if you cannot loosen the sensor mounting screws, remove the throttle body (see chapter 4) and try again.
5. Install the sensor by turning it not 30-60°counterclockwise from the installation position (pic. 11.5), and then turn it clockwise until the mounting holes in the sensor align with the mounting holes in the throttle body.
Pic. 11.5. Install the TP sensor by turning it 30-60°counterclockwise from the installation position, and then turn it clockwise until the mounting holes in the TP sensor align with the mounting holes in the throttle body
6. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
