Parking brake and low brake fluid level indicator [Toyota Corona T190]

1. Checking the indicator lamp.
  • a) Disconnect the connector from the parking brake switch and the low brake fluid level switch.
  • b) Ground the sensor connector (engaging the parking brake) from the wire side.
  • c) Start the engine. Check that the indicator lamp lights up.
  • d) If the indicator lamp does not light, check the lamp or the wiring harness.

2. Checking the low brake fluid level sensor
  • a) Remove the tank lid and mesh filter.
  • b) Disconnect the connector.
  • c) Check for continuity between the terminals when the sensor is in the "OFF" position (float in the upper position).
  • d) Pump the liquid out of the tank.
  • d) Check for continuity between the connector terminals when the sensor is in the "ON" position (float in the lower position).


  • e) Pour the liquid back into the tank. If the operation is different from the description, replace the sensor.

3. Checking the parking brake indicator switch.
  • a) Check for continuity between the terminals when the sensor is in the "ON" position (button released).
  • b) Check for continuity between the terminals when the sensor is in the "OFF" position (button pressed).
