Checking the main switch
1. Check the main switch circuit according to the table.
If the conductivity does not match the table, replace the switch.
2. Checking the illumination of the main switch (models up to 1996).
- A) Set the power window lock switch to position "not blocked" (button released).
- b) Connect "+" battery to the output "14", "-" to the conclusion "6" connector. The backlight of all switches should be lit.
- V) Set the lock switch to position "blocked", the illumination of the passenger's power window switches should go out.
If it does not work properly, replace the main switch.
3. Checking the windows.
- A) Disconnect the connector from the main switch.
- b) Connect 'plus" ammeter to output "1" connector on the side of the wires and "minus" ammeter to "minus" battery.
- V) Connect "plus" battery to output "8" wire side connector.
- G) Check that when the glass starts to lower, the current will be about 7 A.
- d) Check that when the glass reaches its bottom point, the current will rise to 14.5A or more.
Note: The thermal fuse is activated 4-40 seconds after the windows are fully lowered, measure up to this point. If the power window operates as indicated, the main switch is faulty, replace it.
Checking the power window switches on the passenger doors
Checking the power window motors
1. Connect "+" battery to the output "1", "-" to the conclusion "2", check that the armature of the electric motors of the left doors rotates clockwise, the right doors - counterclockwise (models after 1996 clockwise rotation on all doors).
2. Reverse the polarity of the power supply, the direction of rotation should reverse.
Checking thermal fuses for power windows
1. Disconnect the connector from the main power window switch.
2 Connect the battery to the terminals of the connector on the side of the wires (see table), and raise the glass to the fully closed position.
Note, pin numbers in parentheses are for post-1996 models.
3. Continue to apply voltage, check the operation of the thermal fuse in the interval from 4 to 40 seconds (post-1996 release models - 90 seconds) (when triggered, the thermal fuse makes a characteristic sound).
4. Reverse the polarity of the battery connection. Check that the delay before the window starts to go down is about 60 seconds. (release models after 1996 - about 90 sec.). If the operation is not as described, replace the motor.
Checking the main power relay
1. Check for continuity between terminals "1" And "2" relay.
2. Check for continuity between terminals "1" And "2" relay when battery voltage is applied between terminals "3" And "5". If the conductivity is not as described, replace the relay.
